Bengal Cat Breed – The Mini Leopard of the Pet World
Bengal cats are known for their high energy levels, intelligence, and playful nature, often described as being "dog-like" in their behavior. They are highly active, curious, and enjoy interactive play, including games like fetch. While affectionate, they are not always lap cats, but they do bond strongly with their families and enjoy being part of the household activities.
Positive Traits:
Bengals have a lot of energy and need plenty of opportunities to run, jump, and play. They are quick learners and can be trained to do tricks, open doors, and solve puzzles. They form strong bonds with their families and enjoy interacting with people.
Many Bengals are vocal cats, often "talking" to their owners and expressing their needs. They often enjoy playing in water, splashing in sinks, or even taking baths.
Potential Challenges:
Their high energy levels can be challenging if not managed with sufficient playtime and enrichment activities. If left alone for long periods without stimulation, Bengals can become destructive, scratching furniture or chewing on things. Bengals can be prone to destructive behaviors, aggression towards other animals, and litter box issues if not properly managed.
While some owners appreciate their vocal nature, it can also be a challenge if the cat is overly vocal or demanding.
Key Considerations for Bengal Owners:
Ensure your Bengal has ample opportunities to run, jump, and play. Play games like fetch, chase, or use puzzle toys to keep them mentally stimulated. Bengals love to climb, so offer cat trees, shelves, or other high places for them to explore.
Bengals can be sensitive, so it's important to use positive reinforcement and avoid punishment. While Bengal cats share common traits, each individual cat will have its own unique personality.
Due to their curiosity and tendency to explore, it's wise to kitten-proof your home before bringing a Bengal kitten home.
Urboros
Urboros, Bo, came to our cattery in July of 2025. He is from an outstanding cattery in France, Paradus Dei. We thank Amelie so very much for entrusting us with this wonderful boy.
Bo has sired gorgeous kittens and many have gone on to do incredibly at cat shows around the world!
Zorro
Zorro came to us from Moldova in 2024. He is and always has been the most wonderful, affectionate boy and we all adore him. He is our first Bengal stud and will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
Zorro made his debut at the Calgary TICA cat show where he earned his Championship! He went on to gain his Double Grand Championship at his very next show in Langley, BC.
Julia
Julia came to us from Ekaterina of Murbenmiur Cattery in Russia. We had originally obtained her daughter Willow, from a breeder who retired after just one litter over in Ontario. We were so thrilled to have found both girls as they have been wonderful companions and excellent mothers.
Julia is a snow mink and one of my absolute favourite colors for a Bengal.
Willow
Willow is originally from Ekaterina of Muirbenmir Cattery in Russia. We love Willow's large clouded spots! Willow is an absolutely amazing mother and has some dearly loved offspring out there in the world. She was mother to our very first Bengal litter, sired by Zorro!
